this sounds like 6th st aquarium, am i right? jus as a heads up that place has really bad water quality and bad fish. i bought a couple cichlids there and they infested a couple tanks and everything died. hadta start over...... every lfs in SF is a waste of time
In Kuala Lumpur, there is a business that is both a wholesaler/supplier as well as retail store. Obviously the prices differ for the general public but the concept is the same - pick up a bucket and net and wonder around the facility to choose your fishes. However, their clientele tends to be more informed fishkeepers as well as LFS owners/middle men.
The general public would frequent shops located in malls, etc as opposed to this place which is hard to find and involves travelling down a muddy road with huge potholes.
I don't post often on MFK but I read a lot of the threads and from what I gather, the staff at chain LFSs aren't exactly that great. I remember one thread in which a fish at an LFS was dropped onto the floor during netting and the girl didn't or couldn't bring herself to pick it up by hand. How is that any better or safer than letting customers do it themselves?
I'm surprised so many of you are astonished by this feat! Over here it's common practice, in fact i havent gone to an lfs that didnt let me bag my own fish! Sure they wont let EVERYONE bag their fish and wont let most people bag fish from a discus tank or other expensive fish for the matter!
