Wow so you really think there are no racist people in the world, and that there are no racist people in power. Because if those statements are true, yes being a white male is privileged.

And you expect me to believe that no minorities in positions of power are racist and abuse their authority? If so, hypocrisy in action...

Ok do you read any of the studies done or do you just go based off your personal experiences? Because the civil rights movement which was in the 1960's didn't have anything to fight about? If you actually looked at scientifically researched analysis of this subject you would see white males are inherently privileged. Maybe not everyone is discriminatory at all towards white male, but it's a joke to say no one is ever discriminated against for being a minority. Which is essentially what you're saying since you said it's a joke that white men have more privileges. You have no evidence to back you up because there is no evidence to back you up. Racism and discriminatory practices exist, and because they do white males do tend to have more privileges, and if you deny that, then that's the joke my friend.

I have read on this subject extensively. I find it fascinating.

Racism and discriminatory practices do exist. Yes. Every race is discriminated against at times. Both genders are. Every ethnic background is. This isn't news to anyone, but for some reason some people like to shout it from the rooftops like it's a brand new discovery.

The civil rights movement was about equality as a group. It was about giving every person the chance to go as far as they could with the tools that were available. It was, more importantly, about making sure that everyone who was willing to work for the tools could actually get to them.

Having more whites than anyone else isn't a lack of equality. Having more white business owners in the US isn't a lack of equality. Etc., etc. Having an equal number would be a lack of equality. If there are more white people in this country, which there are, one can logically conclude that there would likely be more whites represented at every level of society... which there are.

We could go into a really hardcore college level debate on this subject and discuss upward movement, but I can see people flying off the hook about that.

The problem is that many of us in the majority absolutely can not truly understand. We try. We try to be supportive. Many of us support your goals. However, we don't, and never will have, the life experiences necessary to truly understand where you're coming from. The attempts to make us understand are futile for the reasons listed previously.

The vehemence with which you have presented your arguments is counterproductive, I promise you. I can get that you all want acceptance. I respect that. Most people in this thread get that and can respect that. Instead of arguing over this, the best course of action would, honestly, be to drop it and treat the people who just don't get it with respect. If you speak your piece calmly and respectfully and give them time to digest it, I can guarantee the flavor will be much more palatable to your audience over time.

You won't make this change happen, like, NOW. I know that's frustrating.

I don't understand how that leaves any room for argument though. If you don't understand something someone has experience with you usually let them guide you through it. I previously mentioned what Im majoring in. I truly understand this, and the vehemence comes from being responded to with slurs and insults. I know what transphobia and misogyny is, and Ive seen the erasure and Ive seen its ramifications. This is seriously a matter of life and death for many people and for it to be thrown back so nonchalantly is horrifying for me. Just dropping it is impossible when you believe so deeply in something so important. Trans people don't have the voice that women and people of color had, they cant afford to be silenced and to just have the subject dropped.

Are you a transgender person asking me not to say it? Or just someone who thinks they can speak for a group they are not a part of?

You're god damn right I would. I'd say it because that is and continues to be the word I choose to describe that group of people. You're the first one that I have met to have a problem with it. My actions after saying it would be entirely dependent on what you did next. If you flew of the handle at me, I'd likely shut down and not have anything to do with you. If you were respectful, I would be in return. If you put your hands on me, you'd likely find you bit off more than you could chew.

Im sorry what? Sure racist people exist, IN EVERY RACE. And sure racist people are in power, OF EVERY RACE. So to try and limit to whites is a joke. But guess what? There are actually laws on the books that are racist against white males. No other race TODAY can say that.
