I kind of like buying deformed or crippled fishes.

Because most times i can get them cheap. Yes, I am a miser. :)

But also I tend to think that these fish are special, they are survivors, they have the will and adaptability to overcome their disability.

Who else does this?

I don't. I wouldn't mind if they're given away for free but I would not be willing to shell out my hard earned cash for something that I think is just not worth the money you earned. But I suppose everyone has his choice and different way of viewing this issue.

i brought my thai silk for 100 pounds, it got delivered with a deformed tail. love him to bits, because he's different... short body fish are only deformities anyway! be different and stand out!

some are sold in a very high price.
That's right.Just look at those parrot fish and some of the goldfish types.

No. Unless its something rare, I don't bother.

I don't purposely buy fish with deformities, but sometimes I still end up with them.

I have a few koi with mouth deformities from being kept in bad conditions, and I have one with a 90 degree angle bent tail.

I also have a leopard leaf fish with only one eye.

haha. I love them all though.

Depends.

If I see the fish in person and know it's headed for the chopping block without my intervention, I'll grab it for free.

I wouldn't pay more than a few bucks for most deformed fish, and I won't get one if it hasn't personally begged at me.

There would certainly be exceptions, though. Say someone's platinum bichir got its eye bitten out and he was going to kill it or sell it, I'd throw a few bucks out for it.
