thanks guys!

Well, I actually own a seafood & beer restaurant with a 122gal tank on it. Does that count? :D

Parents owns seafood store get to see a lot of diff fish and we also have a live tank that holds tilapia and catfishs. Had live eels before crabs lobsters list goes on...

been working on 'n off in the pet industry since I was 16yrs old. worked for both petsmart and petco.. and atm working at a local petstore that has just about everything, except for the truely exotic stuff. I've mainly worked in the aquatics areas, but I am a "jack of all trades" when it comes to whats hiding in my brain reguarding pets.

I always got my jobs by getting my foot in the door, and getting to know the owner/manager.

i work in a pet store. my dad know the store owner. :D

I work at a small mom and pop pet store
not a really interesting story....started as a customer and then joined the team after talking to the owners about the fish they had and the fish I have, etc.

very nice guys!
i have worked at petco for a while. could work for two of my lfs but they just cant pay enough. one guy wanted me to manage his store for him and only pay me minimum wage. i was a lifeguard at the time making 9 an hour.
hey danzig, what does the aquaculture course consist of? is it college courses?
i would be interested in doin some aquatic classes to just learn a little and maybe have somethin else to bring to the table.
anyone work for a zoo or aquarium tho?

I work at a LFS. I knew the boss and all the employees and was there usually every other day. I also asked if I could volunteer there around the time I was planning on quitting my job at a wholesale club.

Next year, I am taking aquarium science in college and I am hoping to get a second job at an aquarium or doing some kind of aquarium maintenance on the side.

I love my job though, so there is no way I am going to be leaving until I am out of college for sure. If it paid more, I would work there forever lol. We have people who quit years ago for really good jobs and they still come in and do 5 hours of tank maintenance a week because it's an awesome place to work.

My ultimate goal is opening an aquarium. Unlike the two local aquariums, the exhibits will not only be the local bass, seals and african cichlids .
