This was many years ago when i was in my teens and didn't know a whole lot about fish but was keeping them. I had a friend who had a death in the family and I inherited their fish. They had 3 blue eyed plecos and 4 zebra plecos. they were all small about 2-5" I had no idea how special they were and thought they were just regular old plecos. I then proceeded to trade ALL of them for two 22" COMMON plecos. I did this because I thought they would help keep my brand new (and monstrous in my teenage mind) 225gal clean. All they did was ****. Massive poos that made the tank filthy. Worse part, they didn't even care for algae. Never scraped the glass clean just ate pellets and food off of the bottom. During this time I learned of the value of rare and exotic plecos. I went back to the LFS and talked to "Ward" The crazy one eyed guy who had ripped me off and confronted him. He laughed and said lesson learned and traded me back but kept one of the Zebra plecos. Lesson learned.
Other than that story bunches of other fish.
Giant snakehead just before the ban.
piranha
Freddy
clown trigger / salt
electric catfish (sold it to a friend with a caution, keep it alone or with big fish). 12 African cichlids later, the catfish was back.
too many to recall them all, my buddies and I used to always trade fish growing up. Lots of bass, catfish and trout from the lakes back then.
