Do you keep driftwood with your rays???

Its often advised not to mix the combo together, but how many people here have this combo? What are your thoughts? If you dont keep them with your ray, please explain why? Out of convenience or just think its bad practice?

I have drift wood in my tank and haven't had any ill effects yet. In fact I think my rays like it, it gives them a chance to explore the tank more and hover around searching for food etc. Granted once in a great while I will see a minor scratch but nothing major that would warrant me taking the wood out.

I do.

Its normal to see large rays looking for food among roots and driftwood in only one feet of water.

So why not in the tank too?

I have a big piece in my 450 with my rays,its Malaysian and is very heavy.The rays seem to like to go under it occasionally.

I at first had a big branch type of drift wood and my big castexi ray tore it apart,shredded it over night.What a mess.

I have never noticed any scratches on my rays.

I have one piece of driftwood in my tank. Doesn't seem to cause a problem for me.

I used to.. but got tired of moving it and syphoning under it.. it almost acted like a 'trap' in the nice circular current of my ray tank. Now that the 'trap' is gone all the waste collects on the pre-filters and I seldom syphon..

With my rays I never have the need to syphon. They vacuum the sand and kick everything up for my filters!

I have a piece in my tank. It is anchored to a small piece of slate. My big female likes to graze on it from time to time.

put it in for a day then took it out afraid when my leo gives birth that she might hurt herself?

Thats understandable, im sure its very hard to control your body when you have things spewing out from it...lol
