hybrids are cool w/me. they encompass the best traits of cichlids. only downside is they are so aggressive.

I had a flowerhorn so I've kept and will probably continue to keep hybrids. I just make sure that they don't breed with any other species and I try not to sell/give them away. If I do get rid of a fish that I'm not sure of its genetics (petsmart midas), I make sure that I tell that person and advise them to do the same.

Sup folks? I am doing a bit of research and would like to know one thing. Do you keep hybrids. I'm posting it in this forum because I wanted people who enjoy keeping pure as well as hybrid cichlids. If you can give me a hand with this I would greatly appreciate it.

I no longer own any 'Hybrid' species.

However, at one point and time, yes. I was under the 'Freshwater - Oriental' influence, which resulted in traveling outside of the U.S.A. in the efforts of collecting very expensive, very exotic, very restricted specimens. This influence lasted a little over 3 years.

I have now, switched back to keeping 'Pure' cichlids; Central American cichlids, which has had an everlasting enjoyment for me. And, inexpensive compared to thousands of dollars spent over the last 6 years on rare exotics and saltwater reefing! :)

nope, i don't.. i've got them in tank deals and found other homes for them.. but i've never intentionally kept a hybrid cichlid.

I recently aquired a free 55g tank setup that had some parrots in it. Haven't quite gotten around to losing them yet.
