Personally, I would never buy a hybrid that has caused the fish to have difficulties with swimming, eating, etc. for our pleasure. If it improves fish or doesn't cause problems, that is different, but I don't know if I would ever buy one, because of my own ethical reasons.

I breed and raise Hybrids Angels. As long as there is a market for them, well I guess I will continue. Don't get me wrong as I do not promote defects such as notched, extra fins, or defective eyes; as these are culled at a very young age.

THis is my Purple Rose Queen, Everyone I know that passes my tank comments on what a beautiful fish he is. I've heard is a hybrid of something But haven't really been able to find out what. I see red Devil in him but I'm unsure about the other.

I keep african cichlids, and only pure fish. I dont think hybrid african cichlids need a place in the hobby, there are hundreds if not more true african cichlids out there.. If you find the need to keep hybrid africans I dont think you truly understand the african cichlid hobby. If your into hybrid africans I dont really care, the truth is they need to stay in your home and not find there way into a lfs tank.. Most lf stores dont care if they sell hybrid africans and it seems to be a very common thing to find at an lfs when trying to find true species.. If your home work has not been done, you may end up with plenty crosses when shopping at a lfs. This is only my opinion, I dont want anyone to take this personal.. but hybrid/crossed cichlids are a problem to the market.

RQ's are a Midas crossed with a Synspilum.

as far as my stance on hybrids, i have no problem with flowerhorns, as long as they are listed as hybrids (or flowerhorns :P) in the fish stores, the hybrids i have problems with is the ones that arent known hybrids like all these Electric yellow hybrids, and hybrids that are sold as pure (like flowerhorn and trimac) heck, flowerhorns were one of my favorite fish before getting into the natural biotopes.

Xanthic Tri-mac.........Thanks.......:grinno:

actually it is not a xanthic trimac, it is a Jin Kang flowerhorn with the common name being Gold Trimacu, it is not just a Xanthic trimac.

Umm I have never kept a hyrbid. I can't say I wouldn't. I think most are ugly as hell, although some are absolutley beautiful. Although the nice ones are like $300 and I spend way to much on my reef tank to be buying a FW fish for $300.
