do you know what a bumblee catfish can do?

its P. bufonius. the giant bumblebee cat. id say its a tweener between the tiny and huge.

Had a similar experience with one I got in a trade. Seemed like a cool catfish. Problem was when I started noticing my Albino Bristlenose Plecos less and less. Finally woke up that the bastard had eaten all of them! The cat was probably 4-5" and the Bristlenose were all adults in the 3" range. Crazy!

Thats why I have my group of bumblebees in a tank with bigger fish than themselves. They're always trying to take off with the biggest morsel of food from the bigger fish than themselves.

nice, its a bit hard to find a suitable tankmate for bumblebee catfish, maybe a couple of decent size barbs would do.

South american bumblebees are ambush predators that eat fish no hesitation. The Syno is fortunate it's spike fins kept it from being swallowed.

nowadays, I give them guppies, since they seems to ignore anything else but life foods.

2 2.5" lazy bumblebee cats + 2 1.5" cichlid fry + one night = 2 fat and lazy 2.5" bumblebee cats

Just my experience...

till now, I think I really like a nasty cat:D

I hope you like them as much as I do, I really want to see my cats grow HUGE! which is maybe only about 25 cm ;)

All catfish are predators. Even the small banjo catfish will take out a fish, if given the opportunity. I have a 1 foot brown bullhead living with 4 inch plus bluegills, no losses. Even though I had a 2 inch green and the 4 inch bluegills were 3 inches when I added the catfish, no deaths.

However, I keep the light on the tank 24/7 for the other fish's safety. I keep the lower half of the tank darker. The catfish has shown me on more than one occasion that if he wants the fish, he can catch them, with his speed and agility. If the tank lights are out, the next morning the catfish and other fish have torn up the tank.

I thought having the branches would keep the catfish away from the smaller fish and provide territories for the fish. I noticed that the catfish stayed away from the branches. I shot this video and was blown away that a 1 foot catfish could easily go through the branches whenever he wanted to. Watch the HD version.
