Hehehe. Start digging into the flowerhorns and find everything you can about it, don't come back to me saying that your bankrupt because I told you to go searching into the flowerhorn hobby. I am not responsible for anyone who runs out of cash within a year...do the research and find the true beauty of it. Don't be the ignorant one and say they are ugly, I use to be one of them. This is like pit bull and its aggression on the media v.s. the truth about pit bulls w/ all the pit bull owners. :D

P.S. - I knew this thread is going to come along down this road. :)

Careful dropping words like "ignorant" because some of us don't care for these fish, that's rude.. There are lots of us experienced keepers out there who avoid these fish, have done their homework and failed to find the "true beauty" you describe... On the other hand I have to wonder if allot of the people hating on all "hybrids" in general especially FH, also comment positive and drool all over certain color/pattern arowana, stingray and catfish verieties without knowing they could be called hybrids as well..??

Its an endless (and pointless) debate from two different sides of the hobby.. Neither side is going to make a compelling argument that changes the minds of the other side so who cares.. Enjoy your flowewerhorns if you like them and they make you happy. That's all that matters. I'll enjoy latin names ;)

I find it rather annoying when someone goes into the hybrid forums just to bash on them. Same thing with LBF's threads, if you don't like or agree with them just avoid them. There is no need to start a big fight for the sake of fighting.

I like flowerhorns because each one is a bit different from the next. You will see thousands of oscars that look the same but not many flowerhorn that look the same.

I use to stand where you guys are standing at the moment and I will stand by with what I said. I find that there is very few or little homework is done to really know the true reason why are they bred for such and what is the real beauty and goal behind it, #1 reason why most doesn't appreciate it. I came from being a betta keeper to goldfish into SA/CA and a few African Cichlids jumping all over to oddballs such as lungfish, puffers etc into arowanas(until I sold my 180) hopped right into saltwater and jumped back into freshwater and now flowerhorns. Been there, done it. Try it for yourself first before you can really say anything about it...and most never really have any hands on experienced and just point blank lay the card on the table. Try it first, if you don't like it...I don't blame you. But no hands on experienced and just because they look deform then you slap the card right on like its no body business...Wouldn't you call that ignorant? But do as what makes you happy, no one is going to stop you.
By no means am I attacking anyone or what not, I am just saying that try it first before you say they are ugly, deform and pointless fish. Have fun fish keeping! :D:chillpill:;)

Crisplosion, this thread was started in the general forum and moved here, no one is jumping in this section to hate on FH. The OP asked a question and got an answer, deal with it... Of course everyone is going to jump to their defense in this subforum.

BIG_ONE you are being told a second time, stop dropping the word ignorant, your pissing me off.. I didn't say they were ugly or pointless, again I HAVE done my homework and have the right to my opinion just as you have yours. That does not nake me ignorant.. You calling people ignorant above for making assumptions yet your doing the same thing assuming I have no personal experience with them..? Did you ask? People can have an opinion if you approve of it or not bud, that's how it is. ;) I am done with this thread. Take care you two..

I have lots of Flowerhorns and because I am moving in 2 weeks and cannot take 8 tanks .I gotta move some fast I hate to do it because they are my loves, but sometimesyou gotta do what you gotta do, but I am in Texas.
