As long as i have been in fishkeeping... this question always will baffle me.. i am a little heavy handed in my feedings..i am just like that with everything..i always try to make sure everything eats something in the tank..doing so sometimes causes the other piggys to overeat..what do you do? I do water changes very often and maintain fairly good environment but my hubby says if i fed less it would even be better.. so i have decided to skip over a day and feed normal the next... simply because i cannot promice to feed less.. this every other day feeding may work better for me...although i am going through withdrawel with them...:(

I feed my fishes but not too much. Don't want them to encounter swim bladder or liver problems.

It is great that you do that...i feed a little too much i think but i have never encountered swim bladder or liver problems.. thank goodness.. but with all the different types of fish we keep ...it is hard to tell if everyone is getting the right amount..so do you feed light daily or skip a day and feed again normal..

I seem to feed them too much, my oscars will take all the food i put in and about 10 mins later they spit some of it out, anyone know why they do this or know of a solution???

The only solution to that is to have a bottom feeder or two waiting for the left overs..Oscars are indeed messy eaters..i am going to feed less by feeding every other day.. and maybe they won't be as fussy...and by feeding oscars too much you rish HITH.. and we do not want that at all costs...

i also sometimes have a tendancy to be heavy handed, but everyone is healthy and happy, fat and happy that is, and always keep up on the water changes to obtain a quality enviornment for all

I always overfeed those large begging sad eyed cichlids. I do excessive water changes for this reason

So sweet... :D

i over feed a little but they are growing boys  i would rather the fish a little fat and healthy than to skinny just in case anything happens ,a a fish with a bit of beef will survive not eating a hell of a lot longer than one that gets the bare minimum.

Thats the word i was trying to get out ..excessive water changes.. we do excessive water changes.. so he tells me the only way to cut down on water changes is for "ME" to feed less.. so with the exception of the babies{they should always eat a few times a day very light} i am trying it his way...every other day..
