Just curious, how many here own a fully grown Clown Knife? (Pics would be a bonus :D)

I would love to get one (two?) of those some day but if I buy a pet it's definitly for keeps, so I wonder how large tank does a fullgown CK need? I want it to be able to schwwwwimmmm! ^^

I just picked one up and he is only 7". He will eventually go into the 750g which should be plenty of room. Remember these guys can get 36" or better.

Excuse me for beinga all scandinavian O.o but 36 inches is like around 90 cm, right?

And I've heard that a tank should be ATLEAST three times as long as the fish's length and one and a half times as high and as wide? That would make a fish that's about one meter/39 inches require a 300cm x 150cm x 150cm/180 inches x 59 inches x 59 inches tank which would be a tank containing around: 6750 liters/ 1783 (US) gallons?

And you think 750 gallons is generous? O.o How does that work?! Am I misunderstanding something here? *confused*

I got a 22 inch clown knife in my 6 foot by 4 foot by 3 foot 500 gal...Plenty of room to house my guy in-----

Suspect I got another year and a half to 2 years before I have to have a pond built for him.......Then he shall see something in the 12 foot by 4 foot by 3 foot range......

The three times X is just say so......Spend some time search the site and ask all the ?'s needed....You will see some amazing things on this site...

I think 750 gallons is generous for a clown knife. some people have a large knife in a 100 gallon tank.. thats too small for a large knife
750 gallons is 2839 liters.

Those are the "theoretical" numbers but reality wise maybe 10% who have a clown knife have a pond that size and less than 10% probably have a tank that size.

Reality is many people keep them in more realistically sized tanks where the fish has ample turn around room, and length twice to three times the size of length. And realistically most will agree that is a decent size tank. Once in a while someone will have a pond/DIY tank that is very large like you're talking about. :)

Okay, so people are carrying big fish in too small tanks then? If I ever get a CK it's gonna have a tank/pond that big or I'm not getting one at all.
