'Cause most don't get any bigger than about 24" I suppose. I'd say that's the average adult size in captivty...

Oh! Thanks for clearing taht one up for me :)

Here's mine in the 220...he's 22". Hasn't grown much in three years.

He seems to have enough room to swim around. So you never know how big they're gonna get then?

You gotta remember that most large fish in aquariums don't get nearly as large as in the wild (about 50-75% of wild size). Gar are a perfect example...Also, very few members of a species reach the maximum size. Being conservative with feedings limits growth as well.

Thanks alot for explaining this to me, I was really wondering what people did with their Cks! xD

I'm planning to buy a 200g tank for my pleco (it has totally outgrown my guppy tank O.o) maybe I could actually get a CK too then.. *grins*

Lucky fish, what kind of pleco is it? Nice size tank for a big sailfin, royal, snow king, etc.

It's just a common pleco, it was given to me when it was about 2'' . I had no idea it would grow into a pretty big fish...

So right now I'm trying to figure out what kind of fish I want him to share the new tank with. and it's hard! there's so much pretty fish out there!

Yes I know the feeling lol. Hence the one tank I started with is now 12...

I just moved my CK from a 29gal to a 75gal and he's about 8". how big do you think he'll get in there? I don't plan to get a larger tank for a while. Tanks are expensive in hawaii and the bigger ones are hard to come by or at least I haven't seen any unless I order one from the mainland. anways Just curious because I don't have much experience owning large fish, this is probably the largest fish I owned.

whats up with the Ck in the front of the tank he has one spot and you think one to twelve is crazy in under a year i went from a HALF gallon betta to a 150g
