Do you pet your fishes?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
nope i don't because i herd it take's the protecive coating off them. Is that true?

no there so skittish its crazy and to be honest my fish are ruthless..and there like 2-6" lol

My rtc expects to be pet at feeding time. Lol come right up to the surface and waits after he gets all the food....on a rare occasion the tsn will come get a few pats before swimming back to his area of the pond. I think it can harm the slim coat but I have yet to have a single problem so maybe it is less of a prob with large cats

My Midas might let me, but I have not really tried. Though when he is in spawning mode he gets so mean that he bites the hand that feeds him.

I hand feed my JD's, Firemouths, and Convicts sometimes. They don't usually sit still for touching though. When cleaning the Convict tank I'll play tag with the male sometimes. ;) Little $%^@* likes to bite the back of my hand so I have to keep tapping him away.

Excessive handling can certainly damage the slime coat. Every once in a while is okay, though. Just keep it in the water!

My australian lungfish loves coming up for a rub.

I pet my pacu. I would have to touch it anyway, since it is always in my way when I'm siphoning the gravel.

What? Are you trying to say that you're not supposed to pick up your fish and give them hugs?

My BGK lets me pet him sometimes. He might just think my hand is another cave to nap in though.

My gibby lets me pet him when I'm doing a WC. I have to move him most of the time because he's always in the way.

I thought the spines on plecos hurt when you touch them? I've always been afraid to touch my gibby with bare hands for that reason.
