For example i know this might sound horrible but

I have a gold oscar who is a menace he is small about 3-4" but he constantly makes a dead sprint towards the arowana and makes him jump so i put him in a divider for a lil and fed the aro more than him now the aro is bigger and he doesnt seem to bother him.

But someone at my lfs was saying how he took his fish in the net and would actually move the net back and forth and would stress the fsh if he attacked one of his other fish like that. I think that is kind of over doing it he said this way if that fish doesnt defend itself it will remember that you will do that if he was to attack the other fish:nilly:

Personally imo i didnt think fish had a conscience so i never thought of such a crazy idea wondering if you guys ever heard of nething like that?

There was one time, when my P. congicus grabbed a fish by the tail and was swimming around with it showing everyone when I finally reached in and bopped him in the head with the net handle...but that was more to get him to let go of the fish than for punishment, though I suppose it was a bit of both.

Also this was only because there was no reason for him to be dragging the fish around by its tail, as it was way to big for him to fit down his throat.

Yeh ive used the net to get them away from something but i have never caught them and moved the net with them in it to scare them that would only stress them out am i wrong.

But even if i dont think a fish can really remember if i was to do something like that therefore what would be the point the fish will only do it again.

When I tried introducing my Fly River Turtle to my 220, my big silver aro went right after it as I dropped it in, so I smacked it on the top of the head before he could bite the turtle...after that he never went near it...

 awesome thread

I used a net once to stop my rtc from swallowing my talking catfish but not as punishment.....

I can understand that because your fish was eating another fish but im saying this guy was stating how if his fish attacked another he would put it in the net press it agains the glass and move it fast so the fish would panic and he believed that the fish would remember it and think twice before he attacked something else
