I used to pet my bichir when I cleaned her tank, she would rub against my hand so I would give her a quick pet.:D

I always talk to my fish. We also have parades. When we got our pacu, our cat become very jealous and would cry pitifully when we paid the fish attention. We told her she could be our "pacu kitten". My husband will pick her up and hold her out, rocking her saying, "Pacu Kitten goes swim swim swim, Pacu Kitten does swim swim swim" He walks back and forth in front of the tank, and the pacu follow along, back and forth, back and forth.....a parade inside and outside the tank.

wow pacu mom, that's cool. Did the cat calm down after this? I was always too scared of my cats getting ideas if they got right up in front of the fishtank. Heck, I'm freaking out if the kitten gets too close to the lizard's tank.

The cat is a much loved pet who had 100% of our attention and goes everywhere (except Hawaii) with us. If we do anything with the fish (cleaning, feeding) she's always right there protesting that our attention is not focused on her. She does not like to be held up to the tank--I'm sure she's afraid we'll put her in the tank and make her swim....like we do at the lake

She's a pretty good sport, though

The other day I dropped a pellet on the floor while feeding the fish, she quickly tried to eat it, but didn't like it. She just doesn't like any attention given to her brothers, the pacu. When we hold her up to see her brothers, she doesn't want to look at them, but they have their faces pressed against the tank to look at her and greet her.

maybe she's scared they'll eat her. Maybe in fish talk they are teasing her! I wonder if they would theoretically understand each other like in the movies.....
Very pretty cat, by the way
