Check this out. So just because the asisstant principal is Mexican that means we can't wear Patriotic clothing on Cinco de Mayo.This is America, foreign Americans should be lucky their even here. I have nothing against mexicans, or any other group of people in America.

i think all americans are descended from foreign lands...oh no...wait...thats a fact...unless your 100% native american anyway...purposely wearing patriotic american clothing on a day that another race/religion/creed is celebrating a holiday is just plain disrespectful and ignorant and if you dont see that well.....ignorance is indeed bliss...

I know I'm not native american, nor is 99% of Americans,but you get what I'm saying. My parents, their parents, their parents, their parents and so on for quite some time ae from America. That's damn close enough and you know it. IDC if someone just moved over here, i have nothing against them.

They wore a shirt that had an American Flag on it, this is America. Simple as that. If I went to Mexico on Cinco de Mayo and wore that same shirt, then yes people can get mad. But seriously, if I want to wear a shirt that that has the flag of the country I live in on Cinco de Mayo,then whatever. This is America, can I not say the pledge of allegiance on this day also, must I take down the flag on this day just because it's a day that mexicans celebrate. Celebrate, it's fine. Just don't tell me I can't wear patriotic clothing in the country I reside in 365 days a year.

Sure Hispanics might celebrate it in America but why does that mean someone can't wear an American flag in AMERICA ?

I could accept that if it were a religous or strictly cultural holiday, but it is a point of national pride involving a military victory. Good for them, but why should anyone not of that nation care? If I'm supposed to grin and bear it when they replace an American flag with a Mexican one (in America) on May 5th then my shirt should have absolutely no bearing on anyone. If I went to Mexico on Presidents day, hung US flags everywhere, threw a huge party, and expected everyone to agree with me I'd probably get shot.

Don't go thinking that this holiday is big in Mexico. It's not. It's celebrated more in the US than in Mexico. And, Cinco de Mayo can't compare to Independence Day. Mexico's Independence day is in the beginning of November and is called Dio De Los Muertos. The actual event leading to Cinco de Mayo is a 4 hour battle, in Puebla MX against the french occupation of the state of Puebla in 1862.
