Yeah you should really keep him :)

Interesting thread, great job!

Thanks! sadly gigantor just left. the guy paid me $30 for him when i told him i was thinking about keeping him. i couldn't say no to that. (The rest went for $3ea)

i still have like 30left...apparently I'm terrible at guesstimating fish quantities LOL

Man.... Awesome thread!!! My P's are working on their 2nd spawn have a shoal of 5...
First spawn lost due to heater shorted out and fried the fry so after reading your thread I'm feeling pretty confident on raising a 2nd batch. Like you they just spawned one night after a 40-50% WC...

Thanks for all the good info definitely will fav this thread... Good Stuff!!!

How old are yours and what size are they? Good luck on your second attempt! Im still thinking whether mine could breed or not, i have 6 in 90gal tank, ive had them for 6months, the largest one 7" smallest 5". I got them at 3" in size, so i cant really tell if they reached a year old yet.

Thanks! N just PM me if you have any questions. I'm not an "expert" by any means but i now have the experience.

with red bellies their growth is directly related to water quality, tank size and diet.
But in general the average rbp will grow between 0.5 - 1" a MONTH (for the first 6 months) then slows to 0.5 - 1" a YEAR.
so you can make an educated guess on their age that way but its not 100% accurate.
