Ok. So the sponge filter is not good for mechanical filtration but I expected a little bit of suction but in my case there is nothing. Although it is true that when the sponge filter is squeezed, gunk does come out. I guess it filters the particles not seen by the eyes compared to the free floaters that annoy the hell out of any fish keeper.
if the sponge filter does bilogical filtration too, wouldn't you release all of the good stuff when you squeeze or rinse the sponge??
