yeah, online research is good too... better maybe. No doubt. BEFORE you purchase!! But a few of us old farts still are in the stoneage and read books! yikes.
Hey another related feeling I have is that SO MANY people jump right into the predatory "monster" fish keeping without having a solid footing in the hobby first. What I mean is, you get people that have never had a tank suddenly see some cool things on a forum and then they go try their hand at a 240gal with some crazy fish as their FIRST TANK. ANd usually, its a long difficulrt journey for them.....
I always think of this hobby as kind of like math... you learn the basics and keep adding to it..... several years later you are busting out with the calculus. after some more time, you are doing some heavy physics and engineering, and one day you are desinging the space shuttle (that would be the 50,000 gallon dream tank!!).
ideally, Its a process of gaining years of expeirnce and knowledge over time... not a sudden leap of faith.
Just my 2 cents... I know a lot of you would disagree and that's cool.
