Whatever happened to cropsebride? (Or, is that supposed to be 'corpsebride'?) He was only here one day trying to start fires with his trollish PETA-inspired whining. I kinda miss the comic relief.
A single pantodon can be kept in a 10g (that is what the old books used to suggest, of course then a 50g was considered huge), they are much better off in a 20g (long) or larger, and a lot more fun to watch when you drop a cricket in at the other end of the tank.
I think this site is a great resource for myself and many others. Information is scarce on a lot of fish but I can almost guarantee if you post a question on a particular speices on this board you will get the help you need. I am not saying that you shouldn't read up on the fish you are interested in, of course that is a great resource but this site can be invaluble in certain situations.

You can keep a Pantodon in a 10 gal just like you can keep a betta in a whiskey glass.... however, I would not call that (quote) "taking care of them properly" ...
That's why I had to make that comment ...It's nothing personal, I am just sad for the fish...

i had conlflicting information so i decided to put the baby in the 10 gallon and have been assured he will be ok.i could very well have gotten the same conflicting information from a book that i got from looking on websites and asking questions on forums.at any time i please he could go into my 75 gallon as i stated. and since its no big deal to me i may very well do so.i also want to look into breeding them and think i read that guppy did that so i know i can find the info i need when the time comes,once again without a book.in my oppinion my butterfly fish will be "taken care of properly".

Yeah, I hate to see fish kept in the absolute minimum size tanks. He says he is moving it into the 75g, yay! I love how they make those long dashes the length of a tank, they can be fast as hell.

I always try to research a fish before buying but if you go on a trip and find something you like your going to give in now and then, but now I go everywhere (long distance) with my trusty Baensch books. I'ved also found there's alot of information in books that isn't on the net especially in Aqualog books for example. You scroll thorugh them and try searching for one of the cichlids colour forms, like the many different geophagus there are, there just not documented well on the net.

i never used and ended up with some absolute disasters. you dont know how much havoc Blind cave tetras can wreak in with a breeding pair of Bettas 
now i make sure i know as much as possible about the fish first.
