Does anyone else dislike selling fish?

Doesnt sound like a hoarder. I used to have 3 pitbulls, 1 husky, 3 cats and 2 55g tank.

still less than what he has.

Also if you're selling goldfish, guppies and tetras, you'd get those kinda customers OP talked about. If you don't like or trust the buyers, don't list your fish for sale.

Im in the same boat..we have 15 tanks up and running..and not allot of room for baby things so over the next 7 months we have to down size to make space..good thing the other half is around to help clean them when the baby comes.

..hate hate hate giving away or selling fish to people I don't know..they have to answer a list of questions to even get a response from me on my CL adds.

Damn!...did you have any money left over to feed yourself?

Keep the fish and get rid of the dogs and cat.

The cats are all permanent residents and will be staying. All the dogs though, we are rehoming except for maybe one that has aggression issues. It's a complicated situation but long story short none of the dogs are mine, though they are my families, I just got stuck caring for them.

When you sell fish to folks...you don't need to meet at your home. When I sell fish...I get out the 5 gallon bucket...and we meet at the local McDonald's.:)

Same here. I've sold out of my house before but for the most part meet somewhere.

I dislike it a lot. I tend to want to keep them forever too, and I always feel like a failure when critters turn out to not be compatible with each other. Thankfully this hasn't come up often for me, since I make a point to ask in a relevant subforum before springing on a new purchase. Re: labor and reduced time available due to pregnancy and childrearing: If setting your home up to automate waterchanges is at all feasible, there are TONS of great articles on here in the Setup and DIY section dedicated to making your fishkeeping life easier. I plan on having my cake and eating it when the time comes!

Oh, and re: tanks themselves: What is your stock like? Would the fish going into the 20 and 29 be compatible with each other? Having one 55 with the filtration from both 55s might be a more stable (read: lower maintenance) option compared to the separate 20 and 29s. Best of luck to you, and I'm glad you are keeping some animals, a home with no creatures is no home at all.

I hate rehoming animals as it makes me feel like a failure and I don't like giving them away but in this case I won't have the time to have all the tanks running that I want. I've thought about a DIY system but haven't looked much into it. Also I had 3 different tank setups (two aggressive tanks, a community tank and cold water tank) but am only keeping the latter of the two, so I can't combine them. Thanks and I agree, no home is a home without animals, esp cats and fish lol

So, another related question -- how long do you usually let your advertisements go before you drop the price on your animals?

I actually haven't had to drop the price for these fish but it depends on the situation. If I know the animals going to a great home, then I will drop it/give away as money isn't the important thing to me.

OP sounds like a hoarder. Maybe with that much pets around your house, any new home your fish get moved to would be an upgrade.

I might agree with you if my animals weren't fully vetted and properly cared for but since I don't pile up animals like trophies, which is what hoarders do, I'll have to disagree. Since you've never seen my tanks nor cats or dogs I won't take that as an insult but before you go judging someone you don't know, you *should* know that I foster animals for a living. The fish were supposed to be permanent residents but I feel that since I won't be able to properly care for them (time wise/financially) it's in their best interest to find someone who will, which in my opinion is the best option for them instead of being selfish and keeping them knowing they will suffer.

Now I am but only because the others are gone. Don't all fish deserve a good home though? And by the way, I'm a female, just so you know.

See you know what I'm talking about lol Damn I can't imagine having that many tanks and yeah it's crazy trying to get everything in order before a baby arrives.
