Keep in mind you also just did a major water change that reduced ammonia levels..Don't get fooled into thinking thats the only thing that fixed it.

im sorry! i was being sarcastic...of course i have tried this before. as far as i know he is still doing this.

 i may just have to accept the fact that this is just how this fish acts.

although i still feel determined to figure this out. i would still like to hear any logical suggestions. thanks.

lol hmmm this is odd. I really cant think of much more that you could do.

after doing the 50% water change two days ago the gar seems to have relaxed a little. he is still doing it, but w/ longer pauses in between when he does it and with less intensity. i think we are on the right path w/ the ammonia. i am going to go ahead and do aother large water change tonight and see how he acts over the weekend.

when we had him in his orgional 75 gallon home we had the same 110 filter and he did it then.

p.s. richard, he is back at it again. he relaxes a little more, but when he returns to being active he starts slamming into the glass again. would you recommend using ammolock or anything? just to see what happens?

How is he at feeding time? Do you have any other gars? If so is this gar as quick to respond to food as the others?
