Does anyone else's parents ever use their fih as a threat?

So this morning I had a minor argument with my family. After it was over my dad barged into my room, and started shoving me around and screaming "I'm gonna take your (expletive) fish and flush them, one-by-one!" Calling his bluff, I offered him a net. He said "No, I'm gonna use my bare hands. Wanna watch??" equally loud. Once again I basically said ok, go ahead. He stormed out and I got off with no computer until Monday (I'm on the school computer now).

Last year my mom actually took a fish out of my room and walked to the front door with it before turning back, and my dad once threatened to smash all my tanks. I'm actually considering building some kind of DIY locking mechanism for my tanks. I'm afraid of what I might come home to.

Does this happen to anyone else

same with me i can't wait till im in university. i get my grades back in march and my parents always threaten me! i hate it im NEVER going to my kids!!

wow just like me * kinda * when i was fighting with my aunt cause she was trying to make me take her kids sleeping pills ( at this time my mom has past away still ) i fought with her and told her the hell with it IM OUT and dropped what i was doin at that time ( well i and my cousin were tryiing to make a sump for my tank ) she threatened to smash my tank and as i was getting my dogs leash to leave she went and got the hammer and went in my room ( again i was almost out the door ) and as i left i ddint hear anything break so i was still skeptical and nervious i even went to my friends house and asked if he can watch my fish for a few days tell i get my tanks * btw she never did smash my tank ) and he said sure but i never got to get my fish to give to him to watch instead the next day ( that same night i left i never regreted that either and i also found a new family to stay at and was AWSOME james the step dad was into the hobby like i was ) and to this day i and my aunt still fight EVERYDAY and we both live at grannys house * LMAO she cant even get a place of her own and i find that kinda funny ) but living with granny she never threatens me with my tank cause her and grandpa love the fish but if this fighting keeps occureing i may have to find a place of my own for the sake of my granny and grandpas health.. i have no respect for my aunt at all.....

1. do u pay the water or electricity bill at least?
2. how well do u do in school?
3. do u buy groceries?
4. are u only nice when u need something to benefit you?

if you've answered no to ne of these u should best listen to ur folks. the reason parents act out in irrational ways like threatening ur fish is cus they hav no other hope left to get thru to u. thas not a good thing. once they stop saying nething at all. that means they dont care nemore. ur on ur own. sounds like u got alot of tanks. u should be thankful. fish keeping isnt a necessity though many of us would argue that. its a privelege. sum dont hav it. bottom line, u should b listening to ur rents neway. its the 5th commandment from god. honor your rents1. juss think, its a win win situation. if god turns out to b real, then there r implications. if not, then at least ur safe. good day. by the way, threats to ur fish r jus silly. i agree

I totaly understand what yours saying but.....Not everyone shares the same belifes as you, maybe he worships Odin the great norse god of war. Who knows, but seeing as I'm sure there are people of every faith and lifestyle on this msg board maybe you should leave the bible out of it. I'm not trying to be a jerk but its a mega pet peeve of mine when somone just assumes and or dictates that everyone follows the same doctrine/faith.

Okay, my parents and I DO NOT get along most of the time. I'm not a bad kid or anything but sometimes I do stuff that gets me in trouble.

When my mom gets mad she's screaming at me like an irish fishwife and threatens to do many things, including smash my tanks, but she would never follow through and kill my animals.

Hm I am now 18, and had the worse time with my parents far worse than any of you. My problem was i was a lying cheating drug addict. I didnt do anything they said and left whenever i wanted. They gave me everything i asked for and i had no boundries. I regret it now , they should have sent me off to rehab, or called the cops on me. I should have got arrested or had a good ass kickin. I didnt though i called the cops on myself one time tripping to hard , and i thought somone had shot my little brother. I didnt get into any trouble but man was that an awakener. I got a job and focoused on SW fish keeping. Those two things really set me straight. I am very lucky to be where i am now. From all the experiance i have with my parents threating me , its because they feel they have no choice left. You are pushing them to the point where they feel it is rational to your behavoir to threaten your animals. So actually your probly the one being irrational. I know its hard to see , but man if your late for school just appologise and say you messed up and youll make it tomorrow. Excuses are for losers man , they lead to arguements with parents. Bottom line they wanted one thing from you , you didnt produce it , no excuse is going to change the fact that you where late. You have to play the game , it will work in your favor. I was the most dissrespectful little ass you would ever meet. I really should have gotten locked up , but now i realise that my parents are amazing. They do anything and everything just to make sure i am okay. Im still at home , and just doing what they say without question is the best. My relationship with them is great now.

My younger sister always say she will flush my fish or break my tank.

I agree with EVERYTHING in that post. My brother was a user, he was bad, but not THAT bad, and got kicked out at 16. My mom can be pretty rediculious (you have NO idea what bad is) but what I do is wait till later and say CALMLY mom i'm sorry for ____, and ____ offended me, please don't do/say it again. If you look hard enough theres a pattern for almost everything in life. Remember everything you say/do is a reflection on you.
Im told im very levelheaded by my freinds, and don't easily anger, but when someone really does something I SNAP. I blame my 1/3 red hair and small amount of irish.
