The reason i am asking ..is i just bought my hubby one.. but i realize you also need something to troll the ground with..sort of rake type instrument..does anyone know what that would be called..i want to get it from Bass Pro Shop but i do not know what they are called to order it.. hope someone knows!!:D

They have rakes, shovels and sifters. It just depends on what kind of ground you are on.

does the rake have a special name ? because they don't seem to have rakes.. thanks for info though..i will need a sifter too.. this is mainly clay/sand combination.

I've went out a couple of times with my cousin and he called it a hand rake. I think most people just use the small hand held ones that you find at a lawn and garden shop. Sorry not the best answer, but hope it helps.

Thank you Thank you..this was just the type of information i was looking for.. now i know the names of the items and it will be easy to locate them. Thanks Again ... you were both great!!

anyone have any tips ..do you ever find anything good.. should you look in one place verses another? Should be fun and interesting..

If you find coins do not clean them. Many people ruin rare coins by using vinegar or polish. If you can't get it off with water, it's just not meant to come off.

In the state of New York, it would be a blast. It's so rich in American history. You can find Civil War, The War of 1812, Colonial relics all in New York. Bullets would be neat from the 19th and 18th century.

I believe a while back that you posted a picture of a bob cat on your porch. I would start looking on your land. Chances are no one has ever taken a metal detector to it. In public places you will find alot of rusted bottle caps.

The Oregon trail starts in Omaha and thats the area I went with my cousin. We found a couple old coins, but thats it. He's found an old musket receiver, old pocket watches and coins dating all the way back to the 1860's in the past.
