Research? Did you miss the post where I kept and bred them for over 5 years? They need stimulation, thats it........Stimulation........I had 15? Males and none, I repeat none, ever peed on me. They stunk, but that was pretty much it.......Females had an odor, but never like the Males......

Sorry, but you don't know what you're talking about. It doesn't take an expert to breed them, anyone who can tell male and female apart can make baby gliders. I have two male gliders, they constantly pee on whoever is holding them, its just something they do. Its kinda how they mark their territory. If your gliders smelled bad it was because their food was wrong in some way. Any animals smell is usually directly effected by their diet. My two males DON'T stink. Yes, they have an odor to them, but just like a dog has a doggy smell they have their own smell. Its no worse than that.

my experience with our little girl is she doesnt pee everytime. just when she is out for a while.
but post some pics guys!

yes they do have pouches. n just relax guys. i just made this thread so i could here others experiences.
please if your goin to post make it possitive :)
what do yall feed your gliders?
whats there favorite food? or toys they seem to like?
no more fighting

I feed mine daily pellet food, I've had great results with Happy Glider brand food, it comes in a variety of flavors including chicken, peanut butter, mellon, and cherry and some others. They also get fresh veggies like broccoli, lettuce and celery a few times a week. And every now and then they get fresh fruit, as a treat. They absolutely LOVE grapes and apples. And of course their usual treats are yogurt drops, which they get all the time. =]

As for toys they seem to like anything that moves and makes noise. I can usually entertain them quite well with cat toys with bells and fethers or string on them. If I had to compare a sugar glider to other house pets I'd have to say they are a lot like kittens. They will play with just about anything that moves.

ha great pics! we havent tried interactive toys yet. ours was a rescue so she is just now warming up to us. everyone said it couldnt be done but my fiance did it. i wont take the credit it was all her.
sh efeeds her alot of fruit. no veggies and monkey pellets from the feed store.
didnt know veggies were good for them. the people we have talked to said no veggies. but it seems to be working just fine :)
we are looking for a baby male if anyone has suggestions on where to get them

Be careful with feeding her too much fruit, they get their name from their love of sweet things, but sugar is really bad for them. It has something to do with the calcium: phosphorus ratio in most fruits. Nutritional osteodystrophy (metabolic bone disease, nutritional secondary hyperthyroidism) occurs as a result of an incorrect calcium: phosphorus ratio. This commonly presents as hind leg weakness, and may progress to paralysis.

I got my first glider, Momo, as a rescue as well, she was very antisocial, and just plain mean, so I spoiled her with lots of fruit. I nearly had a heart attack when she could barely move her hind legs. If it wasnt for the vigilance of my fiancee, who figured out what was happening thanks to google, I probably would have lost her. I gave her lots of protein and fluids and she was better in just a few hours. Its terrifying, please dont make the same mistake, it doesnt take long for them to crash.

Veggies are perfectly safe and healthy for them. I'm not sure why someone would suggest otherwise. As far as the monkey pellets go you should see if any pet stores carry sugar glider food. Sunseed Vita sugar glider formula is probably the most common one you will find. My local store has it by the small animal section like ferret and rabbit foods. It comes in a can with a yellow and black label. Its a good balanced diet for them. I used it for a long time before I got the happy glider food. I switched because the breeder I got Max from swore by it, and I like being able to switch flavors.

Heres some info for the happy glider food. I bought mine for a bit cheaper on ebay tho, lol http://hedgehogsbyvickie.com/sugargliderfood.htm

As for buying a baby your best bet would be a breeder, as opposed to pet shops and idiots at flea markets. When I bought Max I went thru dozens of "breeders" before I found someone I thought was truly a responsible breeder. Not only did she answer all of my many questions, she practically interrogated me on my glider knowledge. Dont be fooled by people that are just trying to make a quick buck, Responsible breeding makes all the difference in the health and happiness of your new joey.

sadly i cant keep them. on the wierd side, i could buy a marmoset(which iv considered)
