Does your Armatus do this? Part II

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Don't know how well the Gar/Armatus combo is gonna work. Might be OK 1 on 1 but right now I have 2 gar in with mine and they're ganging up on the Armatus. 1 more incident and I'm pulling one of the gar.

where can i get Zoe Garlic Extreme?

http://www.gardenponds.com/product2246.html

There, for one, but my local LFS (Aquarium Adventure) in Columbus, Ohio also sells it. Not much is needed per bag if you add it to the thawed food then re-freeze it. The smell more than anything attracts it, and garlic really smells.

Vamp, yeah as he gets bigger I don't see myself risking a finger for him. I'm also not sure how the gar situation would work. I know my armatus ate and swallowed a long, slender fish the other day (a sturisoma auriem), so it might be lunch for the armatus.

Have you tried a larger Jurupari? I was thinking about adding a shoal of them to my big tank once he gets transferred and seeing how they fare.

im not gonna try the gar anymore, but i got a 18 inch pleco to go with him today. we will see if that lasts since he killed the last 12 inch pleco.

wish i would have known about the garlic when i was tryin to get my guy off live....

i went to the toledo aquarium 2day. ill get some pics soon. leos, atf, rhaph, and lots of others.

i have never seen any aggression from any of the three armatus I have/had towards any other fish ever and they are all around the 12" mark or just under... I guess they all have different personalities

This guy wasnt bad with his tank mates in the fours short months I had him and that included a 5" dat. He was also fine with a peacock bass that was around 6". I think any large deep bodied fish like dats would work, and of course you could try pacu.

I just picked up a shoal of six Jurupari, with sizes ranging from 4-6 inches in length. They're cycling my big tank right now, and I threw the largest Jurupari in the 75 gallon as an experiment with how the armatus handles them.

I think they'll be fine.
