You know, back when I first started with fish, like 20 years ago, there were 3 fish stores with-in an hour's drive of me.

I was eight and I loved going into town with my parents because we would stop at all of them. Buy the time I was 11 I was trading in fish I'd bred (mostly convicts and angels) at the closest one.

The stores were great! Clean, great fish, and people that knew what they were doing.

Thank god for the internet, because in the past 10 years all but one (the afore mentioned) has closed. When the compititon went away, a once good store went to ****!

Sadly the internet and big box stoes have killed many of the great mom and pop stores that had nice fish. I know how how much the fish cost wholesale and it's hard to make a profit if you can't sale a lot of dry goods.

Most of the LFS around here do have a return policy...which is good...haven't had to really do it though cuz generally don't ever loose the fish. There is this one place...Earl May...great store....lol....not much for selection of fish since they are a garden center, but they still have some. Anyway, their return policy is 30 freakin days!! LOL!! How kewl is that huh? But i mostly get my fish off the net, better quality and most places have garuntee. One thing that ticks me off about LFS is that none of them seem to have return or garuntee on Salt Water....i don't keep salt, but still irks me...lol....

No return policy where I work. However, if the customer is nice and somewhat regular, I will ask for a water sample in return for a replacement.

Only LFS that do return/refund deal around me are the Petco's an Petsmart's. But i Rarely buy fish from them. theres is usually a 7 day thing with a water sample.
