Does your tank ever condense water onto the outside of it ?

Does your fish tank ever cause condensation ? I just found water on my background and the water level is an inch below the tank top about even with the trim. this concerns me quite a bit but try as I might I cant find any leak or reason for it to be there . This is also the first time I have noticed it on any tank. Its about 4 and a half inches of the wall. Please any input would be helpful

Yes it happens. I thought a 55 gal I had was leaking, but previously I had filled it and there were no leaks. Then a day later filled again and noticed some damp marks under the tank.

My 10 gallon is like this too. As long as you gave the tank a test before to see if it held water then most likely its condensation.

THANK YOU! I appreciate it bro. I can't find any leak sources and it has held water for a week now with no leak or suspicion of leak up until this point. I was anxious seeing my vinyl tank backing a little wet as I have had 2 tanks crack before.

it does from time to time take the lids off also this will release toxic gas's trapped in the tank

toxic gas? Were the fish eating refried beans?

It's just water condensation from the water in the tank being colder than the surrounding temperature.

The tank is actually warmer than the ambient room temperature.... by at least ten degrees

You sure? That's weird. It should be the other way around. Think of a glass of iced tea or a soda. Condensation forms on the outside of your glass. Is the condensation even all over the tank?

yeah I am definitely sure:( Im hoping it was just some kind of weird splash or something. I took the background down and dried up the back of it completely if it shows any more water im gonna be realllly dissapointed.

Re-reading, it sounds like you have a leak right at your trim. You can either keep the water level there or scrape and resilicone it up.

hmmm Would it work that way? I mean the water level is about 2 inches from the top of the tank it doesnt make sense. Where would I apply the silicone ?
