We don't keep fish we keep water and I feel your water will go downhill fast if you put dog food in a tank

Maybe this is a side thought...

But you have a dog, fish and a bag of dog food. You won't feed it to the animal it's made for, but are asking about feeding it to the fish. Why?

Chances are you are doing the logical thing in regard to the dog. It's used to his normal diet. Changing it causes problems, as many animals are sensative to drastic diet changes that happen rapidly.
The same holds true with fish (generally speaking). It's not a good practice to suddenly switch up the diet - whether it's to dog food or just another brand of fish diet.

Thought I'd throw that in to think about since the ingredients and water quality concerns have already been discussed.

Zoodiver, I was asking about feeding it to the fish because I had it. My fish eat a varied diet so if it was a viable food for them I would have used it to stretch the food that cost 12.00 per 8 ounce bag. That would mean I had 15 pounds of food for 20.00 rather than 8 ounces for 12.00. Better deal for the budget and I was curious in general whether it would work. I am no expert on the ingredients fish need in their pellets but since this website is dedicated to people who are far more knowledgable than I am about fish keeping, I posted the question to them and waited to hear their thoughts. I have read the posts and agree it is a bad idea, the food will not be used for the fish.
