If you are gonna clean it then do it with tank water otherwise your killing even more of your bacteria.

Carbon does help remove some ammonia.

well just added carbon to the severum/firemouths side for now. tomm ill add some to the eheim.

will do! gotta clean the eheim tomm anyways. clean the eheim weekly.

Not if you're seeing ammonia. Unless you did something to wipe out your bacteria colony, causing the tank to go through a mini-cycle.

Weekly cleaning of a filter that can go for months and months without being opened up,is probably part of the problem.

If a 2260's flow is getting weak, weekly, you are either very overstocked,really overfeeding,or both.
