people use feeders ... and thats ok .. because you call them feeder fish .. but really .. they are buying goldfish .. which is probably the most kept fish in the world .. no one ever complains about that ... but when i let nature take its course im a bad guy .. that makes a ton of since ..

how about you go flame someone else who had one fish eat another fish .. and tell them how they are a bad fish keeper because it happened

You are the most hardest person on this forum to understand, lol.

That has no relevance to what you quoted? :s

Hey, this is the Media Lounge, I was expecting pics. Oh well that's ok.

I don't have much to add except to say jags will be jags. So that's why sometimes it's up to us as responsible fishkeepers to protect the weaker fish when possible. You could make a divider or maybe if she's smaller than him, some driftwood piles or caves he can't get into.

OR....maybe they just need a water change. Oh wait, it hasn't been six months yet, what was I thinking? :duh:

I thought I was going to see a Jag with a black eye & bloody nose! Where's the pics?

They are bred to feed fish, that's why we call them feeder fish. Do we breed jaguar cichlids to feed other fish too? No. So you tell me, why would a jaguar cichlid hang around with another jaguar cichlid that it doesn't want to hang around and go suicide? Oh...I guess I don't like my mate and I will just let him beat me to death. That doesn't sound like nature running its course here. So tell me, how am I flaming your thread just proving my fact that you can do better than let it get beat and die. Or are you trying to force them to breed? Do you get force to get married? :D

um what does feeders have to do with what he said?? he is right, it would be responsible to take one of the fish back to the lfs instead of haveing one kill the other thats irrespsiable!

this thread is pointless your not asking a question your just telling us about your jags...

if the op signature is up to date he has both 1 plus year old jags in a 75 which in my opinion is really pushing it for a single jag so even with a tank divider you would be giving each fish a 24x18 space, one of them has to go.

Why not get a divider while she heals up?

I'm not trying to bag on you, but how is nature taking its course when you're keeping a hurt fish in a place where it can't properly get away? In nature, I'm pretty sure a hurt fish that wasn't ready to breed would be able to get a little further away than say 8 feet. She would be able to hide, maybe find a different mate, or possibly get eaten. That would be nature. Locking two combatants together in your tank is not letting nature take its course.

Just my $0.02.

you can see that the fish is not with the male .. she is in a holding area until she heals up .. which by the way .. she is doing great today ... while i was away she hopped back into the main tank .. and is with the male which is not attacking her .. i would try to catch her and put her back .. but .. she is way to hard to catch with out taking everything out of the tank and dropping the water level .. and i just dont think that its worth it... the wounds are starting to close up well and she is active and eating just fine ..
