Thanks for the tip. I always fill my canisters. Ive got a pile of hose clamps on deck. Ill see how flimsy the returns are. Don't know if itll crush the pipes when I torque em down.

And im so glad its 100% filter. I was expecting 80% at best.

I'm now wondering how much of my FX6 is just filler...there was no 100% filter guarantee on the box..

These are great filters I have one myself. I have had mine for a couple months and I only have good things to say about it. You will like it.

I set one up in the weeeee hours of the morning, half asleep. I filled the canister with tank water and it was by far the easiest canister I've ever had to prime. Before I hooked up the hoses I was able to hit the plunger and bleed most of the air from the canister thanks to the recess where the aquastop goes it'll hold a few ounces of water without spilling. I put the hoses on ans hit the prime plunger a few times and got the siphon partially started before even plugging in the motor. Great stuff.

The motor seemed really strong and had no issues chugging through the air pockets. Unlike its predecessor which just would rattle and do nothing at the first sign of any air molecules lol.

If these canisters were better built I would have no problem advocating their supremacy in the canister filter arms race.

Im not so sure about the clips but the canister should be under negative pressure (vaccum) anyway right?

Its got neat little rubber feet which help with vibration. Its a tad bit louder than the ancient fluval 104 running next to it, but it's not loud at all, just a faintly audible low pitched hum. Trust me there are many other louder things in my tanks within earshot. Like my mechanical timer for the lights is louder than the canister.

I'm a believer. Only time will tell. I dont like the returns, I may fabricate something from pvc and paint it as a sturdier replacement

I had the aquatop CF-500UV version. It worked good for a year. After that the baskets started breaking, the seal wouldn't seal correctly and the pump would intermittently stop working. I gave it to my brother and he now uses it.

Initially this was my thought too, I did a review of it here on the boards. With time my thoughts changed as it became to much of a headache.

but the price of that headache you could've bought another and still be cheaper than any other cannisters close to its size and gph. and have spare parts and be able to hook up without changing anything. new everything for the price of some of the others o rings.
