ok heres the thing i never new you havd to cycle a tank before putting fish in. i never cycled it and never had any problems but i getting a new aquarium and dont want to take the chance but i dont wanna wait 2 weeks to put in a fish any tips to make it go faster.

i was thinking of putting about 40 % of my old water in this new tank and putting my old filter in this tank( i have 2 filters in my 33 gallon) one 70 gallon filter and one 15 gallon filter i was thinking of putin the 15 gallon filter in the new tank, and adding in some feeder fish i dont mind making it cycle for a day or 2 any suggestions?

Really your best bet would be to move both filters and your RD(plus any other fish) to the new tank along with all the water from the 33g. This way your new tank will be instantly cycled. You do need to add dechlor of some sort with the new water. If you add 44gallons on water with chlorine it will likely kill off most of the beneficial bacteria and could injure your fish.

Using the old water will not help that much, but use the filter material from the old tank for sure..Any "new" water you put in the tank should be treated..Prime is what I use.
Throw some feeders in there to give the bacteria something to feed on.
What are you going to stock the tank with??

In this situation I suggested, the old tank water is to help from stessing the fish. You think it better to move fish and filters to 100% new water?

can i add about 10 gallons of tap water evrey day instead of just duping in 44 galons

why, how will you run your filters if the tank is not full of water? Are you so cheap that you will not buy the necessary dechlor for your fish?

Just keep doing as you have been, maybe you'll be lucky and not kill your RD.

i always use at least half of my "used" water and take off one of the 2 hang ons off my bigger tank so i don't have to wait to cycle a new tank. about 2 weeks ago i set up a 75 and 29 gallon off of my tank water from my 120 gallon. filled the 75g half old half new with a used filter and filled the 29 completely and bought a new marineland 280 and took the E filter from my marineland 400 filter that was a few weeks old to get it some good bacteria a lil faster,.

Just get a bottle of Seachem Stability and follow the instructions. Shake well before using.

Hmmm...that is hype. Even from a respected company like Seachem, it's just a money maker. Bacteria is built not bottled.

Thank you for pointing out my error to me. I was apparently confused when I cycled my 350 with this product.
