I dont know what cichlid i want for my 90 gallon.... I like oscars cuz of their fast growth rate, but sometimes their aggression levels being low (atleast the ones i have seen) don't impress me. I like jack dempseys because of awesome color, and have kept them before but slow growth rate turns me down. I feel the same way about a Green Terror. I have never kept a midas or red devil but i dunno if a 90 would be big enough. I know 90 for a Jag is calling it close. I like convicts too but the slow growth rate turns me away again. What should i do here :D? if any other suggestions lemme know! Thanks!

Go for the Midas/Red Devil. Great wet pets with nasty attitudes and decent growth rate. A 90 would be good for one, but I wouldn't add anything else, unless you want to try some smaller plecos or a cat that likes to hide such as a Rafael.

midas or red devil.. they would look great but just that one fish cause they will attack anything else. if you went with convicts, you would have about 3,000 in a few weeks.. not a good choice

i stuck an 8 inch pleco in with my midas for a day and my midas wouldnt leave it alone and by the end of the day, the pleco's tail was frayed and had to remove him.

not sure if i can depend on my LFS to get in a quality red devil or midas, and not really sure bout the differences between the two, have heard a lot of them being cross together. any other suggestions?

If you are worried about growth rates, just shell out a little more up front and get an adult fish. There are plenty of good vendors that will ship.

You could also keep your eye on craigslist. We always have midas/red devils available for cheap around here. Folks get them from PetSmart and don't realize they don't last long in a 20 gallon tank. You could also check to see if there are any local cichlid clubs. I have seen 10" RD's go for less than $20 at some of our local auctions.

petsmart has some great midas'. the one in my avatar is a petsmart midas. 8 years old

I have the guy to the right <<Buttikoferi, in a 75(short 90) by himself. He does quite well and is becoming a real glass-banger.
