Herichthys carpintis

Beautiful, aggressive, but wont kill everyone!

My male loves to watch me while I'm in the kitchen.

I even have fry 1-2" if your interested!

wow thats a nice fish, whats the common name?

I have had good luck with Severums, Chocolate Cichlid and many others. I live fish that will grow large but stay peaceful the best. My most beautiful fish is a Jack Dempsey but he tends to hide and be timid, or overly aggressive. My chocolate cichlid has colored up beautifully. A male green severum is also very nice.

But in his first post, he says that he's not impressed with peaceful fish.

I dont know what cichlid i want for my 90 gallon.... I like oscars cuz of their fast growth rate, but sometimes their aggression levels being low (atleast the ones i have seen) don't impress me.

Trimac would be my first choice, then Midas.

Only because you're showing a very nice female compared to a low quality male. He has dull coloration and hardly any spangling on his body or fins. My male Festae is just as impressive as my female.

mmm I posted the first pic I found, which seems to be the norm w most festaes. The difference is very noticeable, even in high quality pairs, and wild caught ones. Each of them is definitely impressive in their own way but color-wise females are hard to match. If I couldn't keep a breeding pair I'd definitely keep a single female.
