Dont know what cichlid to pick!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
although not a new world cichlid, a Paratilapia polleni would be a good addition. Get relatively large quickly, have as much personality as oscars, and are pretty aggressive IME (not as much as the red/midas though)

I have the guy to the right <<Buttikoferi, in a 75(short 90) by himself. He does quite well and is becoming a real glass-banger.

That's not an american cichlids though!

Get a trimac!

Super Red Texas Flower Horn. If you want a nice size tank with one big fish, you can't go wrong with a flowerhorn. They grow fast, are as colorful as anything, and can bang with the best of them.

If you don't like the hybrid idea go with a male synspillum, great color and great personallity too. Also a little too aggressive for most in community situations.

yes, lookin for just 1 big bruiser...thanks for all the input, looking to get a male though, and nothin wrong with a hybrid

RD/ Midas gets my vote!!!
My guys/gals beg for food like an Oscar, but when I get to close they like to bang!!!:headbang2
An RD or Midas as a wet pet would be your best bet.

Veija(sp) get too big for a 90G IMO.

Why a male? Some females are way more colorful/aggressive than males, and stay smaller which is always better when there's limited space.

Trimac would be my first choice, then Midas.

Only because you're showing a very nice female compared to a low quality male. He has dull coloration and hardly any spangling on his body or fins. My male Festae is just as impressive as my female.

Balton has an incredible Festae pair. The male is a very striking fish. To the OP, good luck with your decision.
