I think there should be an emphasis on giving a crap about your pets. I hear about alot of crappy pet owners getting fish that are too big for their aquariums, but they want them really badly and then they kill them anyway, because they fed them the wrong crap or what-have-you. What the hell is the point. I'd like to get a freakin mako shark, but I haven't got the space for one. Sorry, this isn't much of a suggestion, it's more of a pissy rant.

Its not just with fish, it is like that with ALL pets. People simply dont give a ****.

Even sadder thing is that they are the same way when it comes to children. People have kids left and right while they can barely support their own ass.

I think people should have to get a license to breed.

There were a number of very popular politicians and philosophers promoting eugenics all through out history, never worked because no one listened. No one will listen until they are physically forced.

People do not respond to logic when ego is in the way.

i have "murdered" my fish before. and i ate em. i used to keep pigs and name em and we'd eat them too, same with cows. BUT i believe people who ABUSE their animals are the ones you should be talking about. i do not feel it is bad if the animal is being used for food to kill it. however i do think it is illegal for say example horse owners to never clean or trim their horses hooves resulting in a lame horse. or say when a dog is chained outside and never fed, or a house with 50 cats eating off the counters and ****ting in the cereal box. those are the bad ones, there are much less severe things as well, but i guess maybe i didnt read the thread right and im ranting and raving for no reason. CHILD ABUSE on the other hand should be punished way more intensely than it is.....but as for me eating my animals i do not consider it murder! i consider it SACRIFICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I do not think he is talking about the animals that are grown for food, I do not even think there are many people out there who grow animals for food even call them pets. What he is talking about people who get fish that get too large for the tanks, or do not take proper care of the fish which results in fish simply dieing.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with killing an animal for food - the issue is when you have farms breeding mass number of animals for places like McDonalds, Burger King, KFC, and other fast food places - that is just plain wrong. Having a nice healthy steak is a whole different thing.

Child abuse should be punished more and it is compared to animal abuse. But where do you draw the line? A poor family having a child is not considered to be abuse while the child may not get the best health, education, and general mental stability in result. This is a whole different argument though..

Well put Puffer : the thing with the fish industry is there is no regulations in place this should be changed .How many stories of people being fined and even arrested for animal abuse ,dog ware houses people with mental health problems that have 100 cats ect it really ticks me off when i hear about a store chain with a dozen dirty tanks behind the gardening section selling Rays or sharks to kids with the 10 gallon starter kit only to come back and get a new one when it dies its time for fish keepers to speak up and get some legistation added to protect our aquatic freinds ,i'm tired of the reputation we have : some people belive fish keepers have killed off the coral in the oceans and have depleated speices from importing oh i can go on all day ....... peace ... Fishnut............
