the over fishing of our oceans top predators and pollution have been killing the reefs not the aquarium hobby!!!!
Well, not to get you mad at me or ruin your rant, but I did watch a show once on discovery, where on some small Islands, I cannot rember where exactly, but surrounded by reefs, native people are so poor, the only job they can find is by catching fish for the aquarium hobby. To do it they use cyanide blasts, to make the fishes muscles contract and they go into a shock. The cyandide only knocks out big fishies, like triggers and such, but all small fish, and reef withing 1 squre meter of the blast will die. This is illegal becasue it kills so much, but they continue to do it for the money. But I guess that could fit into pollution from the aquarium hobby.

you are VERY true on this point....this mostly hurt the fish we ended up getting in our tanks and did a lot in the way of pioneering new capture methods. the scale of destruction was not so widespread as to wipe out their entire reefs. the fact that all the large groupers and sharks and predators are being taken means that the whole clean up crew suffers starting from the top. add to that global warming??? and the dumping of harmful chemicals and the introduction of invasive species. you add them all up and they do all add to the whole problem. so we have contributed but nowhere near as much as other sources

global warming is partly contributed to the depletion of the reefs the co2 they emit is decreasing at an alarming rate i just watched a show in jamica i think ,where they are repairing the reefs because of this problem even the goverments are contributing ships to make new reefs

I'm with you!!!! I saw a guy beating a dog once. Got out of my truck. Then I let him knowwhat's it like to get beat. Then I threw $70.00 down at him. Then I took the dog to the vet. The dog survived. He is now Sir Boo- the weather dog. He's been with us 10 yrs. He has always been a true gentleman.
I once herd it said that a society should be judged by how they care for their week members.
