my girlfriend and i bought a townhouse together 8 months ago. by the front door i have a 125g fw predator tank, 95g reef in living room, and 55g cichlid in bedroom. we had 2 friends move in to help pay mortgage. so last week we went out of town for a week on vacation. the only person at the house was the roommate thats my girlfriends friend whom i dont like already. i made everything as simple as possible. individual zip lock bags with day of food marked on them was the only thing for the fw tanks. only think different for reef was remove bubbles from overflow and add top off. after a 7 hour drive home i walk in my front door to a very stinky house and my 125g with black sand in the bottom was full of swollen fish pellets!!!!! the whole bag!!!!! before i could unpack i had to do a 50% water change. and she managed to overflow the refugium under my reef tank! when asked about the food she said she has no idea what happened. im using her next months rent to put a security camera over my tank and the front door!!!

bro u know ur not suppose to trust an amatuer with ur fish, i dont let any1 except me touch my tank, o yeah did all fish survive though?

Wow , i would be pissed off royally . and yea i never let anyone touch my tanks . i actually try to tech my nephew and gf to clean them so i have a back up in case im gone.

evicted imo

I only trust me and my mom on occasion with responsibility to take care of my tanks, I have a very detailed list of instructions when I leave itup to mygma or someone else.

well the trustworthy roommate was also out of town i just thought it would be easiest for the only person in the house to take care of them. all she had to do was pour the zip lock bags for that day in the tank. she must have had someone drunk over.all the fish are fine. i wanna take the top off the tank and hold her face in the water so my arowana and oscar can get her back for what happened.

that really sucks. what a loser, couldnt even follow simple directions. at least you didnt lose any fish!

i too had a roommate and we went out of town just for the weekend (fri-sun)and i hid the food on top of the fridge and asked her to feed them and just once a day....expecting a call for where the food was and nothing. so when we returned home and asked to make sure they were fed she said yeah no porb got it all taken care of. good thing i didnt leave her in charge of feeding our dogs. i dont think she could even feed herself if we didnt have resturants. so now i only trust my neighbors to feed and my mom and gf ofcoarse but if its not atomated TRUST NOONE!!!

I am so about not trusting anyone. I won't go on any trips because of it. My fish control my life, but I don't mind.

Man, you are lucky not too have lost fish. For one week, with monster fish, I would let them fast, do them the world of good. Any longer you nmeed to find someone who you can really trust.

Cheers,
Ken.
