dont trust roommate when out of town

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
3 very important words... Automatic Fish Feeder. LOL, its cheap and it does not forget when to feed you fish

I trust my GF to feed my fish when I'm out of town; she doesn't really care about fish, but she cares about doing a good job . . .

when we are both out of town for more than a few days, I use an auto-feeder . . . I don't like fasting for a week, because I have fish of different sizes and I don't want the big ones thinking the little ones are food . . .

two months ago my other roommate had some of his little brothers friends over and i walked down stairs to see three kids with their car keys in the tank trying to get my arowana to bite them!! i told them to either stick their wang in the tank and let him bite it or get the hell out of my house.

i would beat the the !@#$(frankinberries) outa those kids, when i get my big tank, ima get some diamond plate cut and lock it....

sucks...i remember i got taken away from my parents to a group home when i was 17 i cam back home after 2 months i was amazed i still had fish my dad fed them raw meat everyday and only topped it off with out conditioned water and i saw the intake on my filter had been knocked out of place and all my fish had foggy eye the week i got home...

for 7 days i wouldnt leave any food and just get a timer for the lights... i go on a 2 week holiday at least once a year and just put an electronic timer on the lights... I have 2 cannister filters on the tank normally and just pack up a 3rd with zeolite, carbon and purigen to mop up any ammonia incase anything goes wrong (like a fish death).
The fish seem perfectly fine with it (a bit hungry of course, but it wont kill them).

also I dont have to worry about the person overfeeding them

Omg the only person I would trust with my tank is my boyfriend because we are both MFK's and know how we each take care of our tanks....I'm so freakn anal about my tanks...no one but him or me touches them! Rawr!

seriously! i went to my parents' house for 5 days and left instructions for the roommie but unfortunately i returned to find nastyass water and almost all the food gone. i told him only to feed a specific amount, but i guess he just dumped a bunch in arbitrarily. the filter needed to be cleaned and i had to gravelvac all the crap off the bottom of the tank. definitely learned my lesson there!

well the trustworthy roommate was also out of town i just thought it would be easiest for the only person in the house to take care of them. all she had to do was pour the zip lock bags for that day in the tank. she must have had someone drunk over.all the fish are fine. i wanna take the top off the tank and hold her face in the water so my arowana and oscar can get her back for what happened.

hahaha!!! man i would have washed her shoes with bleach and tell her i dont know what happened!!!

ah crap i dont know whats going to happen with my fishes and tanks im going to study abroad for 6 months!!! i think ill ask someone from MFK thats near me if they can take care of my tanks

When I leave out of town, there's only one lady I trust to care for my monsters... her name is MOM :) she even recieves fish packages for me while im at work. I just tell her what tank the fish needs to go in before work and i come home to a new guy I ordered the night before. She's very cool but she tends to put her face right up to the glass when she looks at the tank. Its funny but she scares the fish!!! Naa but I trust her with my babies more than anyone else.
