Oh fail! I didn't catch that.. I knew I saw a canebrake >.< haha but the only hot i wud ever want = Northern Timber a canebrake , a eyelash viper(snakeguy showed me their amazingness).. I do want to see a boomslang someday tho....

), and really not sure what other HOTs i want. Gaboons are awesome but scare the living hell out of me. The complacicy of thier attitude scares me. Honostly the collection of HOTs i want is small. Mostly green colored snakes. lol. That pretty much sums up the snake collection i want. If it has green in it, chances are I want it. excluding green mambas. they scare me too. Thier habit of stealing the hook(they kept doin it at the class i was just at, so did the black mamba) makes me way too nervous. No other snake took the hook from Al(the viper keeper on youtube) like those did.
PS, masa ur in NY. u should come to the Hamburg PA show in december. I should be there. prob a drive for you but its the freakin hamburg show!!

lots of hots at the ham show, people buy them no questions asked and walk right on out of the expo. wouldn't bee too smart to do that if your driving back to NY though..
Pituophis generally mix very well with Crotalus. I like your cage, I'm very much for keeping mixed snake species displays. I keep a similar type cage with 3 Northern Mojave Desert rattlesnake species; Sidewinder, Panamint Rattlesnake and Mojave Rattlesnake. I'm thinking of expanding that into a larger desert vivarium and adding a Glossy Snake and Great Basin Gophersnake. I really want to do a West Texas rock cut display cage, though the key ingredient (Crotalus lepidus) is restricted here in CA.
Thanks for the compliments everyone. To clear something up, both canebrake and timber rattlesnakes are Crotalus horridus but they used to be separate subspecies- which I still recognize since the snakes are just plain different in almost everything except their DNA apparently. DIfferent venom, color, eating habits, habitats, breeding schedules, and much more.
Canebrakes are the lighter colored horridus and are from southern populations. Mine is from the southern most population in N. FL.

That would certainly be a cool setup. Perhaps you could do a big cage with a visible burrow and set it up like a rattlesnake den with several kinds of rattlers and some gopher snakes. I am not sure what is legal over there but C. cerebrus, atrox, & cerastes would be an interesting exhibit.

Cerbs would be fun.. I respectfully haven't fudged the law and went ahead and kept any of those. CA Fish and Game doesn't recognize the oreganus subspecies, and depending on what paper you follow... Crotalus cerberus is still widely accepted as Crotalus oreganus cerberus. So on a technicality it would be legal to keep cerberus.

Yeah, like I said, I am not familiar with the laws there and I am not up to date on my western rattlesnake taxonomy but they are a really neat species. If I get another rattler, that would be it.
