I saw it, but never replied cause it's so hard to tell from pics.....

After being wrong about your last one I don't want to get your hopes up.... :(

I'm still trying to pinpoint an easier way to tell the 2 species apart, but even having both in the same house makes it hard. They need to be in the same tank, but my lil Robert still needs a few inches before I feel comfy trying it again. I need him to be big enough that if it does go south he's the one doing and not receiving the damage.

Catch my drift on the whole rarity of these things though? My understanding is they have never even been imported over here before cause of the price after all the paperwork needed just to export them. I wish I knew more about the whole quota thing, as that was the reason for the crazy price tag, yet when they were offered over here a second time that price was literally HALF the original price, so who knows what's going on with it.......

Yeah, I guess the only way to identify them easily is when they get to the same size as my big frankie lol. So I guess the best thing to do is let it grow 6-7 more inches then try to identify it then.

I'll have to check tonight to confirm, but looking at these pics http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/f...e-Care-and-ID-of-Dorados-(Salminus)-1-0/page2 of both of mine side by side, it almost appears that if you drew a horizontal line from the eye straight out the front of the face the eye on the brassy is above the mouth whereas the Frankie that line from the eye would hit the mouth. Almost like the eye is further down on the head......

Very nice! You can really see the difference between the franky and brassy in that one shot.

It seems like in order to see the head profile difference, the photographer has to be perfectly level with the fish. It seems as though having the camera slightly above or below and the 'flat head profile' of the franky is lost.

Yeah, I did not get a good shot of its head till i got my new camera. It really shows the roundness of its head now haha.

Definitely some lookers!

Can't wait to see how they get along... :) Will be quite a site to see a group swimming together in your big tank!
