Just seems odd that you haven't heard of dorado. Sorry to offend. I could understand if you were talking about korean perch or something. I have never seen or heard of anyone keeping those before they were introduced here. I thought dorado were pretty commonly known. Kinda like lugubris family pikes.... Anyone who has been around for a few minutes knows what a lugubris pike is.

And "donkey", I wasn't bashing you, but if the shoe fits.... These new fish called Betta splendens are around...

Again, for information, do a search. Scientific name is Salminus maxillosus, but don't get them confused with salmon. I used to think they were related, but from a little research learned that they are not.

My turn. Clay has been around the block for a while keeping fish, selling some fish, etc....probably seen a lot more and know a lot about a lot of nice fish. I feel his frustration at times too. For example, pygocentrus piraya, were non existant in this country or hobby pre 1997? Then this man Oliver, brought them in, and I personally flew to Canada just to see them, 3 times in 2 years and finally was able to buy some. Now days people are all about, oooh...whats the most aggressive p out there, its kind of annoying. Then people say, oh I got tired of my piraya, it didn't live up to its legendary name, and I'm like what did you expect? Did you want to see it do tricks? And now they retail from 100 bucks each or so! A friend of mine paid 400 dollars each for a 3" ternetzi and bought like 25 of them , thats when those were not available in this hobby either.

Yeah, salminus maxilosus are cool, definitely predatory, I use to show and tell people how they could eat piranhas any day, and let them watch the dorados tear up feeders. Imagine a 30" one, awesome site, always been one of my favorite fish. Its hard to keep only a small number in a tank, they fight and will kill each other, larger groups work well, and looks impressive.

On the flip side, Clay buddy, haven't seen you around much, but you've sure turned a bit bitter lately, give the noobs a chance to grow, remember, we've all come from that stage one time or another. Now show us some of the nice fish you have hiding in your house :) :headbang2 :headbang2 :headbang2

Point taken, Wes. CentralMayhem, if I offended you, it wasn't my intention and I apologize if it was taken that way.
