dorado

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
As for me, I am just thinking of getting 9 more. But yes, the 10 adult Dorados is what is stopping me:)
Im not sure if I should just stick to the one I got and just get a lot of diff fish?

Pics DB

Imagine if they have growth rates like arros. 2 foot the first year. Screw 10. Let's get 20.

I'de like to see pics of the tanks you guys with 10 have.

This thread gets my vote for best example of irresponsable fishkeeping on MFK......:ROFL::screwy:

hehe you never know, he may grow them out to eat! My farther in law from Paraguay who speaks little English is always asking me if I know where he can buy dorado! He says they are the best. He gave me his 50meter hand made (HIGH QUALITY) gill net he used to catch them with. Complete with hole from "peeranha" as he says.

DB, how does a bicuda, dorado, and armatus cohab sound? :grinno: :naughty:

Bicuda will be disembowled. Far too delicate and slow growing.

I will replace the Bicuda in this equasion with a much tougher Odoe Pike, and let you know how it goes in a couple months.......

Might be breaking the 750 out sooner than expected........

Bicuda are slow growers? If I remember correctly R1s grew pretty fast right?

I wish I could try it but my armatus is a good 9" now, the bicuda are 4-5" and the dorado are what, like 3"? Definately a group of mega predatory characins! :headbang2

I moved the bicuda to a different tank last night and found out that just because you cant see their teeth doesnt mean they dont have any~! They have an impressive sent of dental work but their "gums" cover it up.

Actualy i'am buying 10 but 5 are going to a friend, and if you are worried about how big a fish is going to get i think you are on the wrong site because like the title says
" MONSTERFISHKEEPERS" so lets be for real get what you like and if you can afford to keep monster fish you must be on the right site

There's a big difference between a Monster Fish KEEPER and a Monster Fish Haver. In other words RESPONSABLE and IRRESPONSABLE.

I think this site is set up so people can care for fish LONG TERM. Not buy something then think you're going to get rid of it down the road cause you can't afford to house it properly.

Do you know how big they get? You KNOW they WILL need a 4 foot deep tank right? Unless you plan on stunting them or selling them....

Rare predatory Charicins should be kept with respect. NOT kept like your typical overgrown retard fish like Pacu.

I still dont think keeping a monsterfish in a not so monster tank is rediculous so be a responsible and yes do care how big a fish gets.
MFK isnt just about keeping monster fish its about how to keep them as well as possible and enjoying the hobby responsibly making sure the fish have as good life as possible!

db junnkie you do'nt know me or know the size tanks i have, you should have ask frist, before you started shooting off at the mouth about buying 10 dorado is irresponsable i could own a 10,000 gal tank for all you know, i been in this hobby for 25years to know the ends an out about it, and i also know that dorado can grow any where from 28" to 36" captive. so be a good hobbiest an ask frist before you make a statment like that. I do'nt know everthing an i do'nt have a problem with asking question thats why we all like this site to learn more, thats what makes it fun. So have a great day
