I believe what you are reffer hahah referring to as your Dinosaur Eel is a ancient fish from the Bichir family......my guess is Senegal Bichir
 
Well i figured that wasn't the real name. I was doing some research and came upon Polypterus ornatipinnis...What the difference between that and Polypterus Senegal?

Ornate Bichirs grow to be much larger, and are a black/gold color.
 
Polypterus Senegal is the latin/scientific name that biologists gave it. Senegal Bichir is the common street name, there are several varieties available in the pet industry...that's why calling them all dinosaur eel is generalizing and incorrect

TBH I've only ever seen Senegals called Dinosaur Eels. Every other species I've seen in an LFS was just labeled as "Bichir." :ROFL:
