combination of water quality and also diet, although depending on who you ask other factors are included (hexamita, etc)
 
Ideally, Keep Nitrates at 10ppm's, very the diet of the bass, feed 1/2 amount of food that you are currently feeding, keep water clean and also keep water clean.


1) Do 20% water changes every three days
2) Add AQUARIUM salt (1 table spoon per 10gal)
3)Bump temp to 85-ish
4) Remove carbon
 
sometimes it just happen. i have 8 bloodparrots that never had hith for years, we moved and now our well water gave them the hith. tank perams are perfect with a constant 0,0,5 perams on a drip.
