How does carbon affect hole in the head ?
This is a precautionary measure unless you know for a fact that the carbon is the main cause. Make sure that the new carbon is thoroughly washed before addition back in the tank. (If using carbon) Carbon will remove medication from the water.

so i have a bunch of over hang filters, should i shut them down for the time being and us my wet dry? also everyone sees keep the water clean how can i do this if im not suppose to use carbon in the filters which the majority of my filtration comes from the filters with carbon

Remove the carbon while medicating because it will remove the meds. If you have a wet dry with plenty of bio, then taking out the carbon shouldn't he a worry unless it's been in for awhile and it actually a biofilter as well. Carbon makes a great biofilter once it's been exhausted if it's absorption abilities, but you should never rely on it to do such because carbon CAN release the things it absorbed in the first place.

You really don't need carbon on your filter at all, but I am an advocate of moderate use because it does remove things your mech filter and bio can't . Aeresol sprays, soap residue, perfumes, tannins from wood, magic marker residue from your 5 year olds hands , and any meds you might put in the tank. It's a nice safety net for a well established biofilter and a regularly cleaned mechanical filter.

If you have hob filters with pads that contain the carbon, just pull em out cut them open, dump the carbon in the trash and put the pads back in. When you're finished the meds, put new carbon filled pads back in to help you remove the meds. Just be sure to not to leave those pads in too long, for it can rerelease things back into your system once exhausted.

Do water changes weekly. And feed more protein, and mix it up.

What i feed
Frozen: beefheart, bloodworms, whole krill, mysis shrimp, and brine shrimp
Live: Red wiggler worms, or trout worms, rarely some guppies (avoid feeder fish they carry all shorts of ****.
Dry: Sometimes feed HikariGold sinking pellets.

Mainly more protein, clean water and work on that diet!

Goodluck!

Is your w/d running for awhile now? Because if it's new, don't turn off the HOBs. It would just cause a drop in BB and ammonia spike, worsening the situtation.

so i think its starting to stop or at least i think it is. the holes have stopped appearing but the ones that are there have turned into bumps now, is this normal?
