Lot's of members got flamed or ridiculed on this forum by some members for one reason or the other. I would like to see what everyone thinks about the following:

Thread No.1
Poster No.1: Look at the video about me feeding my monster arowana/RTC/oscar/piranha live feeders (or i breed convicts/mollies/guppies to feed my monsterfish)
Responses: Oh cool/ What a massacre/ Nice fish etc...

Thread No.2
Poster No.2: I have a Oscar in a 55g, can I add ...(something)
Responses: NOO / Ur ignorant/ R u crazy/ They will DIE! and among those responses Poster No.1 You are killing those fish with ur stupidity!!!

That's pretty funny and just goes to show nobody knows everything. Knowing 50% of what should be done in order to keep a fish healthy and happy does not make you half an expert.....

i think we r ALL learning no matter what "experience" we may have had.. ALL FISH ARE DIFFERENT!!! what might be bad for one fish (or owner) might be perfect for another.. BE KIND!! even if someone is doing something u think is wrong with THEIR fish.. give them your "advice" AND ignore the ones who r "TRYING" to be abusive to get a hoot out of all of u :(

just sayin.. love all fish and appreciate the circle of life :) if not??? why r u on this site??

^^ I agree appreciate the circle of life. Now the Poster No.1 is killing fish intentionally and surelly on a daily basis while the Poster No.2 as worst case scenario could end up killing 2 fishes in a year, that's if he doesn't sell them or rehome them later.
To elaborate more to the subject let's assume that the OP in the Thread No.2 says but my Oscar is only 3" and the other fish I want to add is 3" too.
And the most common responses he would recieve:
Ur stuborn and don't listen to anyone/ Ur stupid cuz u don't listen to those that are "MUCH" more experienced then u etc...

It is relatively easy to avoid all the BS on this site...(and very easy to attract them). People who spend a couple of hours reading this forum should know what to say or not to say :)

As for standards, once upon a time, 55 gallon tank is recommended for 2 compatible Oscars and many lived long lives, now people are recommending 75 gallons for one and I am sure they also live long lives. People now don't recommend silver aros in tanks narrower than 36" but plenty of them live in tanks 24" wide and are doing fine.

So I read these things and have a chuckle. Let other people's blood pressure rise ;)

Yea but the point I'm trying to make is people who cause death of fish daily by feeding live feeders to their fish flaming other people cuz they may hurt a couple of fish in some other way and everyone applauds the first one as a fishkeeper that takes care of fish and criticize the second for being a fish murdurer.

People need to toughen up a bit. If you are a young sensitive fishkeeper who has insecurity issues go over to the beginner forum on fishlore, they are very gentle and will let you suckle on their teets. Otherwise grow a pair and stick up for yourself. Enough with the moaning already.

There are some fish that are kept in the hobby that have to be trained to eat non-live food, mostly predators from the wild. In some instances there is no choice to feed them live food. Other times people get some sort of enjoyment of watching the circle of life happen in their tanks, which is open for debate.

Fish forums can be overwhelming to new people. Sometimes it's hard for people to not get upset about things that happen constantly.

The best example being an oscar in a 55 gallon tank. I think that 55 gallon tanks and oscars are both some of the more popular outcomes for new hobbyists, but are not the most suitable situations. Hence the frustration.

Howse this for a double standard?...There is that crowd of people who seem to get off on giving others a hard time because they feel that a certain tank is not big enough to properly accomodate the fish that are housed in them but then,as soon as someone posts pictures of a so called JDM tank in which a large number of fish are crammed into a tank almost to the point that the fish cannot move freely and these same people start gushing with praises.
