Doubling my mechanical filtration in the 450

Do you unclamp it in the middle to pull the cartridges?

Nope, that's the nice thing. Just pull the cartridges out through the top. That middle clamp stays put. Nice thing is It will be easy to stack again if I need even more capacity. :) After a while it will be difficult to pull the cartridges out so I may never do it. Maybe just for fun.

What exactly does this mean?

The Inland Seas Nu-Clear Model 533 is perfect for ponds up to 600 gallons and freshwater and saltwater fish only tanks up to 90 gallons

I think it's just the stocking of a fish tank vs a pond. Ponds are generally under stocked not requiring as much filtration. That’s just a guess I'm not 100% sure.

Yeah I can take a couple pics :) The most important filtration system I have is the trickle system. I trickle in a couple gallons of fresh water an hour into the top of the tank and that overflows into my sump and out to my yard. It's by far the best filter I have as far as performance and maintenance time saved.
